The Society was formed in 1986 by a group of family historians in the Cudworth area of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, UK.
The Group welcomes all members of the Yorkshire Family History Societies to which we are affiliated, particularly those members who are based in the south and are unable to attend meetings of the Yorkshire societies.
The Society was established in July 1983 and now has a membership of over 400 local, national and International members.
Founded in 1977 with the aims of promoting the study of genealogy, family history and local history in the area, for the benefit and education of the public.
The Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) is an educational charity which exists to represent, advise and support its membership of family history societies and other genealogical organisations world-wide.
We are only a small, but very friendly society and will try and help you as much as we can while you search for those lost ancestors you have in the Isle.
