Society Patron: Lesley Garrett has declined; she is already patron of several societies and has a heavy workload. The chairman announced that he has written to the Earl of Scarborough again.
Search Room: The Co-ordinator is unhappy with her current role; she will produce recommendations for the next EC meeting.
Suggestions: Purchase Soldiers Died in the Great War CD: - this would be prohibitively expensive, and disc is available at Doncaster library and the information is available online.
Collect free CDs from Family Tree and other magazines: - agreed to make a collection of these available as part of the library for members to borrow and use on their own PCs at home; they should not be used on our equipment.
Purchase more years GRO indexes: - this was discussed and rejected last month.
Curtains or blinds are needed in the back room, it is difficult to see the screen of the reader-printer: - blinds will be purchased to match those in the main room.
Wheeled adjustable chairs needed: - we already have some; wheeled chairs tend to slip on the carpet and could be dangerous. As mentioned last month the committee is aware that the chairs are getting worn and is bearing this in mind.
Pay volunteers travelling costs: - the committee felt that this would cause undue administrative difficulty, it has always been understood that volunteers give their time freely and donate their travelling costs.
Advance booking for customers planning to come in from considerable distance should not be restricted to one weeks notice: - it has always been understood that people coming from distance and perhaps needing to plan an overnight stay may book well in advance of their visit
Computer training: the taster courses planned for July did not take place due to insufficient demand. Power Point training will be organised after 15 August, subject to demand.
Policies and Procedures: a booklet has been produced. It is planned to hold a meeting of volunteers on 4 August to introduce this guide, to provide necessary training and have them sign-up to their responsibilities.
