25th anniversary: It was decided by the members that the celebration would be incorporated into the September members' meeting. It was suggested that members of the original committee should be invited to attend.
Patron: We are still without a patron; there was discussion as to whether we actually need one, various names were suggested. The matter was deferred to the next committee meeting.
Constitution: This will be considered in detail at the next committee meeting.
Training: Courses in preparation include Poor Law and Family History Software and Websites.
List of publications: A draft of a new list was considered and some alterations proposed. A booklet will be produced shortly.
Research Room: Temporary membership cards are being re-printed. A suggestion box will be produced; suggestions will be considered by the committee, members will be asked to give their membership details to allow feedback (and discourage facetious comments!). The committee did not agree to the idea of putting up prints/posters on the walls as this would harm the paintwork. Policies and Procedures: A draft document listing the operation of the Research Room was considered, this updates Gwen's list of procedures and goes into further health and safety aspects. There was some consideration of the question of alternative fire escape routes. A full Risk Assessment will be carried out after which all volunteers will be required to 'sign up' to the document.
