Doncaster Family History Society

1.  Palgrave Research Centre :  Mr Graves no longer wishes to be a volunteer.   This matter was discussed and, in view of the present situation, it was decided to close the PRC on Monday afternoons.  Numbers attending are continuing to fall.  At times there are only one or two people there.  The EC appreciates the long standing commitment and time given by Mr Graves, and Mrs Stones who also ceased to be a Monday afternoon volunteer a few weeks ago.  

2.  Courses :   Internet courses will be discontinued because of a lack of members attending.   They will be replaced by a course on the different genealogy programmes available if there is enough interest.  Mrs Jennings’ beginners courses will be suspended for the time being also because of a lack of members attending.  One person has booked on Miss Hambrecht’s Wills course. 

3.  Speakers for Family History Day 2008/2009:  Mr Staniforth had written to 20 speakers for details of their talks.  Six replied and four were chosen to complete the programmes for 2008/9.

4.  The Elizabeth Simpson Award  :    The Doncaster Ancestor has not been selected.  It was felt that there were too many different fonts.
