ISBN Numbers on CDs : It was confirmed that ISBN numbers will remain on some existing CDs but will be left off all future CDs until compulsory.
Half Year Financial Report : Budgets and a reserves policy had been set earlier in the year. As Trustees, EC is liable for any problems. A Report was produced by Mr Staniforth. DDFHS is still looking healthy and on target to achieve the budgets.
Laptop in PRC : The laptop is sometimes used as the 4th computer. It is not working properly as the network cable has been yanked out and rubber bands are holding it together. There are three options : don't use it; continue using with care or replace it with a desktop. This matter and costs were discussed. It was decided to use the laptop for FH Fairs and look into purchasing a static PC to match the other specifications.
New Postal Charges : On 21 August new postage pricing comes into effect based on weight and size. It does not affect the Journal. Standard postage is up from 60g to 100g. 50p postage will increase to 60p and everything else by 20p to save any confusion. It may need to be reviewed later in the year. Postage to be changed on web site.
The Doncaster Ancestor : The Editor, Mrs Robb is now dissatisfied with the quality of the print. The present printer cannot improve with his system which is virtually a version of photocopying. The original number printed was 500. It is now 1200. He had done very good work for the Society for over 9 years. He would not be offended if the Society changed printers, he has so much work. Mrs Robb had contacted a few commercial printers. This matter was discussed at length. It was felt that the Society should have a better image. The Journal is the Society's flagship/shop window. It would benefit all members.
Letter of Complaint : From a new member/volunteer with regard to non-purchase of further years GRO Indexes. The member had joined two other Societies expecting them to have information for that locality - why buy census for other areas of Yorkshire but neglect to purchase the local GRO information that relates to Doncaster. It is not possible to buy GRO indexes just for Doncaster. Many members do not have ancestry in the Doncaster area for more than a couple of generations. Pre-railway it was a very small place. The Society is serving a wider area by buying for other counties. Mr Staniforth had replied to the member.
AOB : 1841 Census for Durham now received from Archive CD Books.
