Approved EC NOTES of the Committee Meetings
held on 16th June 2005

Society Patron: We are still awaiting a response from Lesley Garrett

Search Room: The fire officer has visited and is satisfied that a single fire exit will suffice; a new CO2 fire extinguisher has been provided. Volunteers will receive training
New computers have been delivered and set up

Suggestions: Availability of cheap printer cartridges: will be referred to person responsible for ordering supplies.
Difficulty in reaching PC stacks on the floor to access CD: - stacks kept on the floor to maximise working space on desks, coloured stickers will be used to highlight the position of the control buttons.
Scrap restriction on volunteers doing more than three sessions per week: - committee has discussed this previously, their view remains that it would be make us too reliant on a few individuals.
Purchase GRO miscellaneous index fiche (overseas, army etc): - this will be costed and decided upon subsequently.
Purchase more years GRO indexes: - these cost £1,000 for 10 years, the demand currently is low and the committee considers the costs prohibitive.
One anonymous suggestion was received but not considered

Furniture: Some of the chairs are getting worn (they were a job lot). The committee will monitor the situation.

Constitution: Proposed amendments were agreed these will be advertised on the web site and elsewhere before the AGM.

AGM: Members will be asked to submit questions prior to the meeting so that the committee will be able to provide a considered response (forms to be available at the monthly members meeting immediately prior to the AGM). Questions raised under AOB will be dealt with as best they can.

Computer training: Taster course will take place on 21 July (research room) and 28 July (Edlington Hill Top), the main courses will run at the research room from mid September (consisting 15 two hour sessions). More advanced courses, including Power Point, are planned. All training will be subject to sufficient demand
