The ancient church of St Mary the Virgin is enconsed among
the tall trees on Church Lane. It consists of a nave and chancel, aisles
and a small turret or bellcote with two bells clearly visable: one dated 1630
and inscribed 'Be Our Speed' and the other dated 1845 and inscribed 'O & G
Mears Founders, London.' Inside the church are a black and white timbered roof
and cream walls and arches. The arcades are medieval and the narrow 13th
century doorway to the to the vestry has an old studded door and
hinges. |
